Favorite edited movie

Considering "Green Lantern" was mostly CGI and green screened, I would have to say that movie was edited well. Ryan Reynolds was really great at getting into the character when he didn't have much to play off in production.

Compositional Influences Activity

This image covers the vectors category. The eyes follow the plants to the sky.

The Diagonal Rule is satisfied in this photo. The platform gives the photo a three-dimensional feel, but the three-dimensional feel would still be satisfied without the platform. The fence behind the platform also satisfies the Diagonal Rule.

The rule of thirds is satisfied in this photo. With the platform to the right, we can see the background that surrounds it. The space to the left gives the photo more meaning and context.

Design Presentation

Good Example:

Simplicity and continuity are apparent in this design concept. There isn't a whole lot of color, but the different shades of gray and black add suspense and make you wonder what is going to happen next. A large message is delivered with the simple design of having the large shadow of Superman wearing the cape behind the familiar Smallville Clark Kent look. The Superman logo also helps Smallville fans get excited, and maybe it also helps those who didn't watch the show or care know exactly what this is about. "Destiny is now" is written small inside the shadow, showing exactly what the show is going to be about during the final season.

Bad Design:

I've never watched this show, so for people who do watch this show maybe this design concept is effective for them. But to have the four separate boxes with mug shots of each actor seems a little amateur to me. Not only that, three of the actors are looking at the camera and one is not. Again, for people who have seen the show maybe that's effective for them just as the Smallville poster was effective for me.

Contrast Activity

The contrast of the orange and green in this photo is nicely done. The green background amplifies the color of the flower much more than it would with any other background. I don't think this same kind of effect would have been as useful with even a related background like blue. But I haven't seen the photo in blue, so it may work. Obviously, a red background or orange-related background just wouldn't work. The flower would not work.
